Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about studying an OTHM qualification with ACLAS Global.

About OTHM Qualifications

What is OTHM?

OTHM Qualifications is a UK awarding organisation regulated by Ofqual - the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation, a UK government department. OTHM qualifications are listed on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) in England and are recognised internationally.

Are OTHM qualifications equivalent to university degrees?

Yes, in terms of academic level and credit value. A Level 4+5 Diploma (240 credits) is equivalent to the first two years of a bachelor's degree. A Level 7 Diploma (120 credits) is equivalent to the taught stage of a Master's or MBA. Universities accept OTHM diplomas for advanced entry to degree programmes.

Will universities accept my OTHM qualification?

Many universities in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and worldwide accept OTHM qualifications. Acceptance is always at the discretion of the receiving university. For US/Canada applications, OTHM certificates can be verified through World Education Services (WES). We encourage you to check with your preferred university.

How does online learning work?

All programmes are delivered through Moodle, our Virtual Learning Environment. You get 24/7 access to course materials, assignments, grades, and tutor communication - from any device. There are no fixed class times. You study at your own pace.

Do I need to attend live classes?

No. Our programmes are designed for self-paced study. All materials are available on demand. Optional live webinars and tutorials are offered, but attendance is not required.

How long does a qualification take?

Level 3 Diploma: 6-9 months. Level 4 or 5 Diploma: 6-9 months each. Level 4+5 combined: 12-18 months. Level 6 Diploma: 6-9 months. Level 7 Diploma: 6-12 months. You have a maximum registration period within which to complete.

Can I study from my country?

Yes. We have learners from across the United States and around the world. All you need is a computer and an internet connection. There are no geographic restrictions.

Entry Requirements

What are the entry requirements?

Level 3: High school completion or equivalent, minimum age 16. Level 4: Level 3 qualification or relevant work experience, minimum age 18. Level 5: Level 4 or relevant experience. Level 6: Level 5 or significant experience, minimum age 19. Level 7: Bachelor's degree or Level 6 qualification, or significant management experience, minimum age 21. All programmes require English proficiency (typically IELTS 5.5 equivalent).

I do not have formal qualifications. Can I still enrol?

Possibly. Many of our qualifications accept relevant work experience in place of formal qualifications. This is assessed on a case-by-case basis. Contact us to discuss your situation.

Assessment

How am I assessed?

Through coursework assignments - essays, reports, case studies, portfolios, presentations, or professional discussions. There are no sit-down examinations.

What happens if I do not pass an assignment?

If your submission does not meet all the assessment criteria, you receive a "Refer" decision and at least one free resubmission opportunity with clear feedback on what to improve. Most learners pass on resubmission.

Can I use AI tools like ChatGPT?

You may use AI for research assistance or language editing, but you must acknowledge this. Using AI to generate complete assessment responses and submitting them as your own work constitutes malpractice and may result in disqualification.

Fees and Payment

How much do courses cost?

Fees vary by qualification. Please see our Courses page for current pricing, or contact us for a personalised quote.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. We offer flexible monthly payment plans at no extra cost. Paying in full may qualify you for a discount.

Are there hidden costs?

No. All fees are published upfront. The only potential additional costs are: optional printed certificate, WES verification fee (if applying to US/Canadian universities), and any fees charged by your progression university.

Certification and Progression

What certificate will I receive?

An OTHM Diploma certificate and academic transcript - issued directly by OTHM in the UK. The certificate carries the Ofqual logo, confirming it as a UK government-regulated qualification.

How long does certification take?

After completing all units, your work undergoes External Quality Assurance by OTHM, typically taking 4-8 weeks. Once confirmed, your digital certificate is issued through OTHM's online portal. A printed certificate can be ordered for a fee.

I already have some qualifications. Can I get credit?

Possibly, through our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process. You can claim credit for units where you demonstrate that you have already met the learning outcomes - through previous study or relevant work experience. Contact us for details.
